Healing is not a single event—it's a lifelong process of learning, unlearning, and evolving.
My journey into holistic health didn't begin with a single crisis. It started with years of frustration, exhaustion, and a deep desire to understand why I—like many others—was struggling. Over the years, living in both worlds—patient and practitioner—taught me that real wellness goes beyond symptom management and into self-discovery.
Throughout my life, I have grappled with a myriad of health issues—cystic acne, gut problems, fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, depression, and even alcoholism. After years of relying on conventional medicine, I found myself facing not only persistent symptoms but also new health issues. Frustrated, hurting, and desperate for answers, I began studying holistic treatments to heal my body.
Even though I was working in healthcare, I became disillusioned with Western medicine, especially its approach to chronic disease management. The system was failing me—and, more importantly, I saw how it was failing many of my patients. Burned out and questioning my purpose, I left my job as a registered nurse. But just as I was searching for a new path, my life took an unexpected and catastrophic turn.
One night, a friend invited me to a concert. I had anticipated a night of fun, but in an instant, everything changed. While dancing to the music, I was suddenly slammed to the ground and felt my left leg snap. A man had jumped off the balcony above me, landed directly on top of me, and immediately ran off. The impact left me in a state of shock, lying on the ground and unable to move, but I knew something was seriously wrong.
At the hospital, I learned the extent of my injuries: multiple fractured vertebrae in my spine, a fractured tibia, and extensive damage to all major ligaments in my knee. After an initial evaluation, I underwent extensive emergency surgery. When I woke up, colleagues I had once worked alongside in the ICU were now part of the team caring for me. It was my nightmare come to life. In the following weeks, I experienced excruciating pain, moments of absolute helplessness, and the harsh reality of my long road to recovery. What followed were years of rehabilitation, multiple knee surgeries, and the emotional weight of processing the trauma—both physically and mentally.
I had criticized modern healthcare for its limitations for years, but it saved my life. This paradox challenged me to think about my beliefs differently. It eventually led me to a more balanced view that acknowledges and honors the strength of Western medicine for trauma and acute care, but also appreciates the value of holistic approaches for disease prevention and deep healing.
After my accident, I needed a new job. I returned to my roots in healthcare — but this time, I found a unique opportunity in a wellness clinic specializing in micronutrient IVs, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and alternative treatments. For the first time, I felt truly at home with my profession. Inspired by my new environment, I pursued my graduate degree and became a family nurse practitioner, dedicating myself to helping people on a path to true well-being.
Through my work, I've witnessed the way chronic stress, unhealthy lifestyle habits, and disconnection from the body all play a role in chronic illness. But I've also seen the incredible power of holistic health approaches to restore balance and vitality.
